Dear Blackwoman/femmes/non-men,

I write this to you as earnestly as I write it to myself.

Some people, systems, inner demons and internalized misogynoir may try to convince you that you are on some new and destructive shit by choosing you but I’m taking a moment to say to you and to myself that that is some bullshit.

As a Black person,
assigned female at birth,
I was taught by this world and my community that “leaning” was not an option.

Not only could we not lean but we had to be the support for so many.

We had to do this quietly
Our rage weaponized
Our exhaustion demonized
Our strength making us seem superhuman and used to justify being treated as if we were inhuman.

I’m seeing a lot of us choosing not to participate in this power structure any more.

I’m seeing so many Blackwomen and femmes and non-men saying “NO” while facing dire circumstances.

I see so many of us choosing us.

Keep ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ doing ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟthat ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ shit๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ

I have to constantly remind myself of how fear, sickness, stress and the feeling of being powerless in a situation increase the illusion of isolation.

When I am balanced I can clearly see how much loving support I have around me both in this world and out of it.

None of this is easy.

“God won’t give you more than you can bear is a poisonous” lie the people who stole, raped and sold your ancestors told you so you would accept your circumstance.

It’s what your own later leaders told you to help you make sense of the destructive world around you but all it did was make some of y’all question your worth, your strength and your faith.

I do believe that we can have much more put on us than we can bear and that’s when we have to surrender to the strength of those around us, this is when we have to be strong enough and soft enough to LEAN IN and somehow trust (despite a world of fuckery that showed us different) that we will be caught.

My Dear Blackwoman/femmes/non-men

You are a star giving birth to it’s Self

You are a comet โ˜„๏ธ blazing a healing path within yourself

Your Ancestors are stardust behind you just screaming “I fucking liiiiiiiive”

The trajectory you’ve chosen lights the way for the many Blackwomen, femmes and non-men that will come after you.

Burn bright but not out.
You are not alone.
